Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 6, 2024

The privacy of your data — and it is your data, not ours! — is a big deal to us. In this policy, we lay out: what data we collect and why; how your data is handled; and your rights with respect to your data. We promise we never sell your data: never have, never will.

1. What we collect and why

Identity and access

When you start using BookSlice (@BookSliceBot), Telegram provides us with identifying information such as your first name, last name, and Telegram username. We need this information to personalize your account and deliver our services, including sending you paragraphs to read, reminders, and other features related to the bot's functionality. We may also send you optional surveys or contact you to help us improve our products.

Billing information

If you sign up for a paid BookSlice plan, you will be asked to provide payment information and a billing address. Credit card information is submitted directly to our payment processor and does not hit our servers. We store a record of the payment transaction, including the last 4 digits of the credit card number, for purposes of account history, invoicing, and billing support. We store your billing address to calculate any sales tax due, send you invoices, and detect fraudulent transactions.

Product interactions

We store the content that you upload or receive in your BookSlice account to provide the service as intended. This includes books and reading progress. We keep this content as long as your account is active.

Website interactions

We collect information about your browsing activity on our website for analytics and statistical purposes. This includes your browser and operating system versions, your IP address, the pages you visit, and how long they took to load.

Voluntary correspondence

When you email us with a question or ask for help, we keep that correspondence, including your email address, so that we have a history of past correspondence to reference if you reach out in the future.

2. When we access or disclose your information

3. Your rights with respect to your information

To exercise these rights, please contact us at walter.spades@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request.

4. How we secure your data

All data is encrypted via SSL/TLS when transmitted from our servers to your browser. The database backups are also encrypted. We take measures to protect your data at rest.

5. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your data within 60 days.

6. Location of site and data

Our services are operated in Singapore. By using our website or services and providing us with your personal information, you consent to this transfer.

7. Changes and questions

We may update this policy as needed to comply with relevant regulations and reflect any new practices. Whenever we make a significant change to our policies, we will update the date at the top of this page.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about this privacy policy, your data, or your rights with respect to your information, please contact us at walter.spades@gmail.com.
